Taking Care of Our Own

More than 17,000 responses and thousands of pages of your comments went into the Ernst & Young Survey 1997 results that you can see here.

As you'll quickly discover, this intranet site offers much more detailed information than the printed version of the report published this past winter.

Have we done enough to address the concerns you aired in Survey '97? Through interactive features, you can monitor our progress and offer your feedback. Let us know how we're doing.

Key survey results also are discussed in more detail on the Office for Retention's Intranet. Take the OFR quiz to find out how in tune you are with E&Y's work climate. The site is updated periodically — so visit it often.

This site is organized along the same lines as the original May 1997 questionnaire:

  • Gathering Perspectives offers some background, including how the survey was conducted, how results were determined, and a little about the research company, International Research Corporation.
  • Sharing Feedback is where the results are posted.
  • Taking Action identifies the opportunities before us and describes the work that's being done to meet your needs. You'll find more information in the weeks and months ahead. Stay tuned.
  • Tracking Progress is where you'll see how we're faring against the opportunities we've identified. As you might expect, this part of the site will really take shape as we start to measure our progress later in 1998.

Just as you suggested, our goal is to take all of your vast insight and create a set of actionable projects that will make Ernst & Young an even better firm than we have today.

As expected, Survey 1997 helped identify areas of opportunity for the company. Here is where you can see those areas that the survey respondents think are the most critical to tackle first. Even more important, you'll see who is responsible for championing and posting proposed solutions and providing progress reports.

The six areas of opportunity that we will begin to work on this year and look to complete in 1998 are:

  • Performance Management
  • Work/Life Balance
  • Rewards & Recognition
  • Benefits
  • Diversity
  • Mentoring

Also, you can check our progress at a glance by going to our What's New section.
